Frequently Asked Questions

Where does Pack 166 Meet?

We meet the Third Thursday of Every Month, during the School Year, for Pack Meetings at a pre-determined location during Fall/Spring months and at Bexley United Methodist Church during the winter. Meetings generally last between 1 hour and 1.5 hours. Den and Pack meetings cease during the summer, though numerous fun activities will normally take place (summer camp, Bexley 4th of July Parade, etc)

Are we able to do sports and scouts?

Yes, we encourage your children to take part in multiple actives, though request regular attendance at monthly Den & Pack meetings to ensure they are able to complete activities required to rank advancement.

Are the scouts from all elementary schools or concentrated from any one school?

Cub Scouts in Pack 166 attend all three Bexley Elementary schools.

What are the costs to join?

Registration fee is $97. This includes a one time joining fee of $25 and an annual fee of $72. Pack 166 has additional dues of $xx.

Where do Dens Meet

Den Meetings will be coordinated by the respective Den Leader with meetings take place a minimum once a month and sometimes bi-weekly depending upon the rank advancement activities. Den meetings generally last between 45 minutes to an hour.

Does my scout have to join in first grade or Kindergarten or can he/she join anytime?

The great thing about Cub Scouts is that your child can join at any time, respective to their grade, and begin completing the necessary activities to obtain the rank specific to their grade.

Do I have to sell anything or commit to fundraising?

While Pack 166 does rely upon local dues and fundraising to maintain the pack, it is not a requirement of joining and no commitments to fundraising are required.

What are Dues?

To cover the costs of awards and recognition, crafts, and special events Pack 166 does have additional charges known as “dues”. We aim to offset these costs via Fundraising, though our dues are set yearly via the Pack Committee.

Can my child participate if I can’t volunteer

Yes, though volunteering is highly encouraged, we do not require volunteering for a position within the pack to allow you child to participate. We do require that parents attend all meetings and campouts with their children.

Is Pack 166 supported by a church and do I have to attend that church to be part of the pack?

Our chartering organization is the Bexley United Methodist Church which provides us with meeting space and storage needs, though attendance at the church is not a prerequisite for participation in Pack 166.

Are campouts and activities local and do they have a separate cost?

A majority of our campouts and events will take place within Bexley and the Greater Columbus Metro. Occasionally, we do venture out further for Camping. We do work to subsidize costs for camping and activities, via fundraising, though a small fee is generally accessed for each Cub Scout.
